Why keep a weekly food diary? In all honesty it’s a powerful tool to help you become more aware of your eating habits and activity levels.
If you speak to a nutritionist or fitness expert, the first thing they will ask you to do is complete a food diary, as it provides the basis for assessing your diet and setting goals. Of course if I were to ask you right now what you ate last week, there wouldn’t be many of you that could tell me.
It can be hard to remember what you’ve eaten at the end of each day so it’s best to record things as you go. I’ve devised a food diary template as a basic starting point to help guide you in the right direction. It’s not until you start writing your food intake down each week that you actually realise what you’re eating and how often – and I mean everything – that includes the glass of wine and piece of cheese you ate while preparing dinner!!
Download my basic template and give it a try for a week. Writing down your breakfast, lunch, dinner and ALL snacks – keeping track of the calories as you go along. You may be surprised at the outcome…
